Having graduated with a 4-year degree in Physiotherapy in 2001 I am able to assess, diagnose and treat a range of injuries and physical issues using a variety of treatment methods including manual therapy, exercise, and education. I help people restore, maintain, and improve their mobility, function, and wellbeing after illness, disease, and injury.
Key Elements of Physiotherapy:
Assessment and Diagnosis: A physiotherapist evaluates a patient’s physical condition and identifies issues with movement, strength, posture, or pain. Treatment and Rehabilitation: Involves exercises, manual therapy (hands-on techniques), education, and sometimes modalities like ultrasound, electrical stimulation, or heat/cold therapy. Prevention: Aims to prevent injury or the worsening of existing conditions through posture correction, strength training, and movement education.
Common Areas of Physiotherapy:
Musculoskeletal: Injuries to muscles, joints, bones (e.g., sprains, arthritis, back pain) Neurological: Stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease Cardiopulmonary: COPD, post-heart surgery rehabilitation Pediatric and Geriatric Care: Developmental delays or age-related conditions
